UPFRONT 2014/2015 – CBS

CBS LOGO

With the luxury of being able to renew the bulk of its primetime schedule, CBS is once again ordering the fewest new scripted series (8) of any major network, though CBS has made far more scheduling changes than it typically does.

The addition of 8 weeks of Thursday Night Football in the early fall has forced CBS to tinker with its scheduling on several nights. Mondays will now feature two (rather than four) comedies, though a four-comedy block will return to Thursdays on October 30th after the eight weeks of football. Rather than take hit The Big Bang Theory off the air for two months, the show will start the season on Mondays (temporarily displacing 2 Broke Girls) before moving back to Thursdays.

The established NCIS: Los Angeles will also move to Mondays, to allow the newest spin-off, NCIS: New Orleans, to follow the NCIS mothership on Tuesdays. The latest CSI spin-off, CSI: Cyber, won’t get quite the same luxury; it’ll share a time slot with the original CSI, which will move to Sundays. Two and a Half Men will finally end after next season, its 12th on CBS (making it the longest-running comedy on any network now on the air).

In addition to the shows listed below, CBS will introduce a new version of The Late Show, hosted by Stephen Colbert.
